The all-new 2019 Mazda3 recently debuted at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show, showing off an evolution of Mazda’s famous KODO Soul of Motion design philosophy. The Mazda3 will be available in 4-door (sedan) and 5-door (hatchback) variants.
The Mazda3 can be powered by a range of gas engines, starting with the 1.5-liter, including the 2.0-liter, and up to the 2.5-liter, all with SKYACTIV®-G technology for efficient driving and dynamic performance. The 2019 Mazda3 will also be available with a SKYACTIV®-D 1.8-liter diesel engine and Mazda’s new hybrid engine.
On the outside, Mazda designers focused on two different directions — one for the sedan and one for the hatchback. The sedan’s concept is “sleek and elegant” while the hatchback’s is a “solid mass with seductive appeal.” New for the exterior of the Mazda3 are an updated lamp design and the Polymetal Gray exterior color, which was developed exclusively for the hatchback model.
Inside, the Mazda3 cabin is driver focused and embodies Mazda’s “less is more” design approach. The interior gets a new Greige color (a fusion of gray and beige); the Burgundy interior color is exclusive to the hatchback. Mazda has redesigned the placement of the steering wheel and gear shift lever for easier use by the driver, and the size of the 8.8-inch display is easy-to-read. The Mazda Connect system comes with a Digital Owner’s Manual for the first time ever.
Mazda also redesigned the speaker layout to improve sound quality. For 2019, the Mazda3 comes standard with an eight-speaker audio system, but a 12-speaker Bose® sound system is available.
Active safety features are abundantly available on the 2019 Mazda3. This includes the newly developed Driver Monitoring System, as well as Front Cross Traffic Alert and Cruising & Traffic Support. Passive safety includes high-strength steel and an airbag system, including a new knee airbag.
