2020 Mazda CX-9 Wins Top Safety Pick+ Award | Mission, TX
Mazda now officially has the most Top Safety Pick+ accolades from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety for 2020. That’s because the 2020 Mazda CX-9 just took home the institute’s top honor for safe driving. Four other Mazda vehicles have already earned this honor: the 2020 Mazda CX-3, Mazda CX-5, Mazda3 Sedan and Hatchback, and Mazda6.
Earning this top honor from the IIHS is no small feat. Vehicles must earn the top score of “good” across all six crashworthiness test categories: moderate overlap front, driver-side small overlap front, passenger-side small overlap front, head restraints and seat, side, and roof strength. In addition, vehicles that earn this distinction must earn high marks for vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian crash prevention evaluations (the 2020 CX-9 earned “advanced” and “superior,” respectively). Finally, all CX-9 SUVs made after December 2019 earned a “good” rating for headlights.
A hallmark of the 2020 Mazda CX-9 is its collection of advanced safety technologies as part of the i-ACTIVSENSE® suite of features. Included in this are Traffic Sign Recognition, an Adaptive Front-Lighting System, High Beam Control, a Lane Departure Warning System with Lane-keep Assist, Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop & Go function, Smart Brake Support with Collision Warning, and Advanced Smart City Brake Support.
